Established in Southern California over five years ago, the Nelson Spine Institute remains the most advanced center for back and spine care in Ventura County.  We continue to restore patients who are suffering from spinal pain to pain-free spinal functioning using the safest, least invasive and most conservative treatment methods possible.

Nelson Spine Institute was founded by long-time Thousand Oaks resident, Russell W. Nelson, M.D., an active complex spine surgeon and back care specialist with 30 years of experience.  In his career, Dr. Nelson was the initial investigator of the Trinity artificial cervical disc for the Blackstone Medical Division of Orthofix.  This disc remains in FDA clinical studies at this time.  Recently, Dr. Nelson has developed new patented fusion technology currently under development with the Pinnacle Spine Group.
